About Mark Buchanan
I have been consulting training and coaching since 2004, initially as a Senior International Associate Consultant with Franklin Covey UK and later under my own banner - Practicaleyes, which I founded in 2006.
I originally qualified in electrical and electronic engineering and joined the workplace at the same time as the very first personal computers from Apple and IBM. A life-long Apple Mac user, I am passionate about technology and have a video production studio in my back garden. I am a specialist in the use of video and multimedia technologies as training and educational tools.
I switched to the charitable sector, in 1991, taking the role of UK CEO, Middle East Director and global Chief Technology Officer for a literature, Relief and Development Charity. For the last nine years in that role, I was also one of 5 members of the organisation's world-wide governing board.
Inspiring, motivating and training a diverse group of people from multiple ethnic backgrounds and supporting them under difficult (sometimes life-threatening) conditions was a large part of my role and quickly became my passion.
In 2004, I moved in the the consulting sector and have been working ever since, all over the world, as a Business Consultant, Facilitator and Coach. I have worked with more than 50,000 people in 60 countries across a very broad range of companies and organisations.
In 2019, a local client (eden.co.uk) asked me to come on board, initially as Head of Digital Marketing and a few months later as CEO. I was then responsible for steering the organisation through the pandemic and its associated lockdowns. During that time the business grew substantially and did not furlough a single employee.
My key contribution was to instil the principles of continuous strategic execution into the organisation’s culture which were the main drivers in its successful weathering of the pandemic storm.
Late in 2021, having established the foundations for continued growth and with international travel allowed again, I stepped down as CEO to continue with my global consulting work.
In addition to my training and consultancy work, I have written, presented and produced a 13-part, live and interactive television series for a global cable channel and I am the author of "Creative Thinking For Logical People".
